Did you know that the average age of a school in the United States is 42 years old? Deferred maintenance has become more the norm than the exception. How do MD/DC schools navigate these realities? The focus will be on the best practices in organizing, scheduling and implementing a comprehensive maintenance program to include ASHRAE recommendations, life cycle analysis, and energy efficiency tips. In addition, we will cover some maintenance considerations with having buildings closed and what you need to do to open them safely and efficiently.

This introductory session for procurement novices will introduce you to the concepts and strategies of cooperative purchasing. Cooperative purchasing is a tool in your Procurement Office’s toolbox. It is important to know what this tool is and how to differentiate between the acceptable cooperative contracts and those that may lead to noncompliance. Compliance will be reviewed in a variety of areas including funding authorities, consortium practices and legislative auditor opinions.
