    ASBO’S AWARDS OF EXCELLENCE

    Each year, ASBO MD&DC recognizes Excellence demonstrated by its membership in a number of ways.  The President of ASBO presents the President’s Award to recognize exemplary service and commitment to the ideals of the association. There are also a number of prestigious awards that are given each year for very specific professional achievement. You can learn more about each of these by following the links associated with them.

    • The Fay Miller Education Leadership Eagle Institute Award sponsored by AXA Financial Services, is given annually at the Spring Conference to an ASBO member who has demonstrated exemplary dedication to education, a commitment to excellence, and demonstrated leadership skills.
    • Dwight P. Jacobus Scholarships are awarded each year to students who are pursuing degrees in teaching or in fields closely related to school business.
    • The Josephine Gay Scholarship Award helps to promote the mission of the Safe and Sound Schools Foundation, recognizing and honoring Josephine Gay, a victim of the December 14, 2012 Sandy Hook school tragedy. The Scholarship will be awarded to an ASBO MD&DC member who demonstrates commitment to school safety; providing funding, up to $1500, to pay for the registration, lodging and travel of the scholarship awardee to attend the National Summit on School Safety.
    • The Kenneth W. Nickoles Emerging Leader Award is an annual award recognizing an ASBO MD&DC member who demonstrates commitment to ASBO and assists the winner of this award in their leadership growth by awarding them registration to the annual ASBO International Annual Meeting and Expo Conference. 
    • The Paul B. Bell Award is given each year at the Spring Conference to an ASBO member who has demonstrated extraordinary contributions to schools, the community, and ASBO.  It commemorates Paul Bell’s dedication to Howard County Public Schools and ASBO.
    • The Brice and Shirley Phillips Best Practice Award, sponsored by Johnson Controls,  is announced annually at the Fall Conference to recognize outstanding and innovative practices and ideas that result in significant improvements to the profession of school business management and the operation of schools.
