    The goal of the Dr. Edna May Merson Scholarship of the Council of Educational Administrative and Supervisory Organizations of Maryland (CEASOM) is to encourage and provide support for those working toward Administrator I Certification.  The scholarship is named in honor of the first Executive Director of CEASOM.

    Maker Workshops - Digital Harbor Foundation

    Digital Harbor Foundation's educators' workshops are designed to introduce educators to making tools and tech so that they can help their students to be creators and not just consumers.     Serve as a judge for Maryland History Day 2017 on Saturday, April 29, 2017, at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County when nearly 700 students will compete with their projects. Training is provided. Register now to volunteer or judge for Maryland History Day 2017!

    Digital Learning Week on Wednesday, February 22nd

    The Maryland State Department of Education, along with the Digital Harbor Foundation, is hosting a special event for Digital Learning Week on Wednesday, February 22nd.  Students from all over the state will be able to collaborate on projects using MSDE web conferencing software to connect.  This year’s event will offer two levels of project making for students.

    • Younger level students – create an indoor game for recess (2:00 pm – 3:00 pm)
    • Older level students – create a catapult that will be tested in 3 categories: accuracy, power, and distance (9:00 am – 10:00 am)

    School sponsors will need to provide materials for each project.  A list of suggested materials for each project can be found in the links below.  As funds allow, MSDE will provide a small kit for each participating school.

    This workshop builds on MASSP's spring, 2016 program that received rave reviews.

    Participants will explore how they might assess and develop their administrative skills as they prepare for a promotion.  Activities will be reflective, hands-on, and thought provoking and introduce participants to the various steps used in many District-based Assessment Centers. 

    Activities for the day will include:

    • In-basket exercise
    • Data analysis exercise
    • Instructional observation and creation of feedback
    • Measured group activity
    • Writing sample (with feedback)
    • Creation of your resume
    • Strategies/Tips for success
    • Personal interview (with feedback)

    We will share wisdom from over 80 years of experience interviewing and rating candidates for promotion. 

    Our goal is to provide aspiring leaders experiences in this workshop typically NOT offered in your local school district leadership development programs.

    Registration includes a continental breakfast provided in the morning beginning at 8:30 AM as well as lunch served on site provided by Columbia Chef Caterers.

    Presidential Awards for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching

    The Presidential Award for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching (PAEMST) is the highest honor bestowed by the United States government specifically for K-12 mathematics and science (including computer science) teaching.

    Anyone, principals, teachers, parents, students, or members of the general public may nominate exceptional mathematics or science teachers who are currently teaching grades 7–12 for the 2016-2017 award year. Teachers may also apply directly at www.paemst.org.

    The Nomination Deadline is April 1, 2017 and the Application Deadline is May 1, 2017, for secondary school teachers (grades 7–12). Elementary school teachers (grades K–6) will be eligible to apply during a future cycle.
